The Pembrokeshire national park is the only 'coastal' national park in britain, and is riddled with a multitude of beauty spots, all reachable by foot, bike and car. A well known and well visited part of the country by ramblers, surfers, sailors, artists, wildlife spotters and even those just looking to do nothing for a few days.
From our mountain base camp, to the north we have the harbour towns of Fishguard and Lower Town, filled with history of the French Invasion and Hollywood stories of Moby Dick, and the poetic writings of Dylan Thomas and his Under Milk Wood. Renowned for its amazing wildlife, dolphins, seals and puffins are often spotted off the coast lines. Further on there are the fantastic beaches of Dinas and Newport. Fishguard is also the ferry port connection for Ireland.
South will take you to Haverfordwest with its river side shopping and busy town centre and then on to Pembroke, with its huge medieval castle, the hubbub of the indoor markets and more sandy beaches.
Head West and you will end up in the sea, but before you do, check out the city of St Davids, the smallest city in the United Kingdom with its cathedral and bustling local trade and yet more beaches, good for surfing with the easterly wind chopping up some great waves.
East, and you fall in to a river before being confronted by a huge cliff face, bring some crampons and some mint cake if you fancy heading in that direction.
Check out our links page for all the local area information and activities.
LOWERTOWN
NEWGALE
NEWPORT
Its a house, up a mountain and a parrot lives here.
Set pretty much in between St Davids, Fishguard, Haverfordwest and Pembroke, we are an ideal base camp for easy access to the beaches, ferry ports, castles/cathedrals, coastal walks, sight seeing and seaside shopping centres of West Wales. Head off in a different direction each day and come back with a wealth of stories and experiences, and as much rock as you can eat.
Every effort is made to make your stay here as enjoyable as possible, with filling breakfasts, comfy beds, a friendly atmosphere, and any thing you can really ask for all set in a small hamlet in the mountains of West Wales.
To enjoy our countryside and all its sights and attractions, we aim to set you up for the day and put you down for the night with as little fuss as possible, so all you have to do is decide what to have for breakfast, what you're going to do for the day and what side of the bed you want to sleep on.
We can send you the right way to see the beautiful pembrokeshire coastal areas and point you in the right direction for all the local attractions. Ask us for a map of the area with its points of interests circled in a big red pen.
We also have a selection of bikes that you can hire and a great route that will fill your day and show you some amazing sites, accompanied with our packed lunch and map it's the best way to see the coast lines and hidden treasures of pembrokeshire, careful though, its not too easy cycling back from the pub on the beach if you've been there all day.
Occasionally evening meals are laid on, and these have been hugely welcomed by the weary traveller needing some sustenance and an audience for his stories of discovery.
